55 kids illustrated and wrote the story after learning about salmon at their homeschool co-op. They even went to the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery and had a personal visit by a salmon biologist who shared his experiences with kids about the salmon in the area.

The salmon encounters various predators: sea lions, bass, sharks, crabs, orcas, snakes, birds, mountain lions, humans, bears, river otters, coyotes and more.
