Yes I Can! I'm Clover Anne! - Paperback by Books by splitShops

Description

Fulfilled by our friends at Books by splitShops

by Judith E. Cunningham (Author), Jill M. Vanmatre (Illustrator), Cheryl a. Cunningham Pe (Author)

Clover Anne is unhappy because the playground floods after it rains. She figures out how to fix the creek so it doesn't flood and learns that what she did was thinking and solving a problem, just like an engineer. When she learns that's what an engineer does, her excitement escalates, and she bursts into song and dance and decides that she, too, could become an engineer This delightful story introduces the concepts of engineering to young children from their perspective. Rather than merely defining engineering and giving examples, children read about a familiar activity and problem. Further, this story promotes critical thinking skills as readers contemplate possible solutions with Clover Anne. The story concludes celebrating the exciting opportunity of becoming an engineer

Author Biography

An Engineer, A Teacher, & An Artist: Sisters, Cheryl and Judy Cunningham, share a passion for positively influencing children and youth. As a professional engineer, Cheryl (the engineer) wanted to introduce the fun and excitement of engineering by demonstrating that problem solving in everyday activities is what engineers do! As an educator, literacy advocate, and writer Judy (the teacher) joined the team to create stories about engineering for young children. Judy's daughter, Jill VanMatre (the artist), captured the essence of the stories with sketch, watercolor, and technology. Jill's daughter, the real-life, Clover Anne, completed the team by inspiring everyone to believe that "Yes, I Can!"
