by Timothy Matthew Slemmons (Author)
The Secret of Salix Babylonicus is a story of healing, hope, and perseverance for the bereaved and the brokenhearted, the persecuted and the walking wounded. Grounded in the wisdom of the prophets and the psalms, watered by the spirit and the faith of the gospel, this parable of the weeping willow will lead those in need of compassion, catharsis, and pastoral care to their very source.
Author Biography
TIMOTHY MATTHEW SLEMMONS teaches homiletics and worship at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary. A past recipient of the David H. C. Read Preacher/Scholar Award, his work has appeared in Interpretation: A Journal of Bible and Theology, The Presbyterian Outlook, The Lutheran Forum, Call to Worship, Feasting on the Gospels: John, Vol. 2 (forthcoming), Theology Today, KOINONIA, Journal for Preachers, In the Light magazine, and elsewhere. Slemmons' groundbreaking book, Year D: A Quadrennial Supplement ..., proposes expanding the Revised Common Lectionary in order to build biblical literacy and bring the fullness of Word of God to bear on the life and mission of the church. His forthcoming book, The Joyful Feast, completes his 4-vol. series of Liturgical Elements for Reformed Worship (Cascade Books), which includes Lightning from the East, When Heaven Stands Open, and Greater Attention, a liturgical companion to Year D. A Phenomenal Llama: A Tale Christmas Tale for Children of All Ages (illustrated by Danielle Baudouin), his poems (The Just, Quiet Wind), and his music (A Soundtrack for the Close of the Age, The Word in the Wind), are available at CreateSpace.
